What’s Really Going On In This Frivolous Lawsuit?
University of Metaphysical Sciences Lawsuit UPDATE
First, we are here to tell you that this is a petty, frivolous lawsuit that will amount to nothing. This is not the kind of lawsuit that would put UMS out of business or affect registration with the Department of Education or any other agency.
Who Is Attacking UMS With An Endless University of Metaphysical Sciences Lawsuit for Almost 9 Years?
Here is where it all started. This is the first docket filed in the false allegations lawsuit of 2017. Thus began the long predatory litigation journey.
The present and 3rd lawsuit is called:
International Metaphysical Ministry vs Wisdom of the Heart Church.
Case №4:21-cv-08066-KAW.
UMS has never lost a lawsuit, and won’t lose this one either. Neither has UMS ever been sued by anyone other than competitor above in the metaphysical degree market.
This too shall pass, just like the previous two lawsuits the same organization fabricated against UMS starting in 2017 and 2021.
We are confident in our case and expect to win. The facts are on our side so this will pass without ado. June 2025 is the trial, and we are looking forward to proving our innocence. UMS never ran an ad using the competitor’s name, we have proof, they don’t, so it will be fine for UMS.
What Is Predatory Litigation? University of Metaphysical Sciences Lawsuit Update
These 3 lawsuits, starting in 2017, are what is called predatory litigation, a tactic some companies do to harm their competition with false allegations, costing the other business legal fees they have to pay to defend themselves.
These kinds of lawsuits are purposely fabricated to put competitors out of business with financial distress. Fortunately UMS has had plenty of success and can deal with these costs. Most companies can’t.
The Plaintiff has actually cause itself financial distress more than UMS, reporting losses on their tax reports every year that they have sued UMS. UMS has always had profit to report even in the lawsuit years.
Predatory Litigation — An Epidemic Among Competitors
Predatory litigation has become epidemic in the USA. You will find an interesting read about predatory litigation at Preventing Predatory Abuses in Litigation Between Business: Abuses in Litigation Between Business Competitors.
There was also a congressional hearing about “Litigation As A Predatory Practice.” Obviously the government has done nothing since this hearing to prevent predatory litigation and it’s still an ongoing common practice today.
Here’s how predatory litigation works:
- Make up false accusations about a competitor and launch a lawsuit, or two, or three. Just keep doing it until they give up on being in the market.
- Use the discovery process during litigation to get their financial reports, bank statements, private emails, trade secrets, and all sorts of other things, an invasion of competitor privacy.
- Demand a settlement amount (extortion) every time a lawsuit is launched so they opt for the extortion/settlement instead of litigation that’s more expensive. Just keep doing it every couple years until they give up being in the market.
- Encourage the defendant to take the extortion/settlement deal because you most certainly don’t want to try to prove false accusations in court or you may have to pay the defendant’s legal fees when its over.
- Cause a competitor exorbitant legal fees in order to stay in business if they don’t go for the extortion/settlement amount.

We aren’t going to speculate about who is doing this, but it costs a LOT of money and it’s pretty aggressive. It also started right after a specific event that we won’t share here, but it’s rather circumstantial.
There is only one lawsuit (and 2 more before that starting in 2017) by the same competitor in the metaphysical degree market. There have never been any other lawsuits as the fake articles would like to have you believe.
Feel free to search on the lawsuit websites to see if there has ever been a lawsuit against UMS by any other than the organization listed above, and you will see the truth. UMS has never been sued by anyone other than it’s competitor in the metaphysical degree market. UMS has never lost any lawsuit, either. UMS is confident it will prevail in this third one, too.
Any article telling you this lawsuit is anything other than a disagreement about ads is untrue.
You may notice the fake stories have no references to anything outlandish that’s being said. You’ll also notice these fake articles about the University of Metaphysical Sciences Lawsuit are Chatgpt created, written by Ai, not even real writing. You’ll even see one website that has only 5 articles on it all published on the same day (the other 4 are fillers) with 1 article about the University of Metaphysical Sciences lawsuit being the entire reason for that website’s existence.
Use Your Discernment With Fake Articles About The University of Metaphysical Sciences Lawsuit Update
You never know who the person is behind these fake articles or if you would listen to anything that kind of person has to say.
Here are some ways to detect if an article is true or not.
- Do the articles look like they’re written by Chatgpt and doctored up a little?
- Does the website have real articles or are there just a few articles hastily written about insurance or some other unrelated topic?
- Does it look like an “article farm” where lots of unrelated articles are posted just for links?
- Are there references to real data or is it all just “saying stuff” that has no basis in reality?
- Is the author just a general email? Is it a meaningless authorship that gives no credence to being a real writer with references to journalism credentials?
Only believe things that come from real journalists with real credentials, or news companies that do their best to report truth. Even that is iffy, as you probably know.
